India’s leading ethnic snack brand Bikaji Foods International Limited has entered into a strategic joint venture with Nepal’s largest multinational conglomerate, Chaudhary Group (CG). The partnership marks a significant milestone for South Asia’s FMCG industry, targeting the growing demand for traditional snacks across borders.
The new joint venture company, to be established in Nepal, will focus on the production, distribution, and trading of ethnic snack products such as namkeen, bhujia, papad, and packaged sweets. A new manufacturing facility will be set up and operated by CG, with a commitment to global quality benchmarks. The plant is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities and boost local entrepreneurship by strengthening domestic supply chains.
“This is not just about product excellence. It’s about creating long-term value for Nepal,” said Varun Chaudhary, Managing Director, Chaudhary Group. “From boosting employment to energizing the supply chain, this partnership has the potential to set new benchmarks in quality and accessibility.”
The joint venture combines Bikaji’s category leadership in India with CG’s deep-rooted market experience and FMCG reach in Nepal, most notably with its flagship instant noodle brand Wai Wai. The collaboration also supports CG’s broader objective of promoting industrial self-reliance and food security through local production.
Together, the two companies plan to launch a range of affordable and hygienic snacks tailored specifically for Nepalese consumers, further consolidating their position in South Asia’s competitive packaged food sector.
