In a significant development for railway catering in India, travel technology platform ixigo has announced that its ‘Food on Train’ feature has crossed the milestone of 20 lakh meals delivered since its launch in October 2024. The service, which enables train passengers to pre-order meals for delivery directly to their seats, is now operational across more than 200 railway stations nationwide.
The platform also revealed that it has surpassed 10,000 daily meal deliveries in partnership with Zoop, marking a major milestone in onboard dining convenience for Indian rail travellers.
ixigo’s in-app ‘Food on Train’ service, available on both ixigo Trains and ConfirmTkt, allows passengers to browse curated menus, place orders from verified and hygienic partner restaurants, track their meals in real time, and receive them at their designated train seats. This offering has rapidly gained popularity among India’s large and growing base of rail passengers.
