IPO-bound eB2B major Udaan has announced the acquisition of retail-tech startup ShopKirana in an all-stock transaction, marking a significant consolidation move in India’s growing B2B retail tech space.
The deal strengthens Udaan’s position across key categories such as FMCG, staples, and HoReCa (Hotel, Restaurant, and Catering) and aligns with its broader strategy of achieving profitable growth through deep market penetration, operational efficiencies, and expanded geographic reach.
Founded in 2015, ShopKirana has built a strong base in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities like Indore, Bhopal, Lucknow, Agra, Surat, and Meerut. Its focus on digital procurement, transparent pricing, and last-mile delivery complements Udaan’s national presence and robust tech-led supply chain infrastructure.
The integration aims to enhance operating leverage, scale high-turnover categories, and unlock greater value for kirana stores and brands by combining ShopKirana’s retail network with Udaan’s pan-India logistics, credit offerings, and data-driven capabilities.
Udaan CEO and Co-Founder Vaibhav Gupta termed the acquisition a “strategic milestone” on the company’s IPO path. “We share a common strategy of winning on costs and becoming the preferred supplier for shopkeepers and brands,” Gupta said.
With this acquisition, Info Edge also becomes a shareholder in Udaan, aligning with a shared mission to transform India’s retail-tech ecosystem. The move follows Udaan’s recent USD 114 million Series G fundraise led by M&G Investments and Lightspeed, which will support category leadership, supply chain optimisation, and new market expansion.
ShopKirana Co-Founder Sumit Ghorawat added: “This partnership will enable us to take more brands to more retailers, more efficiently, and capture market share.”
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals.
