Tetra Pak introduces packaging with recycled polymers in India

Must Read

Tetra Pak has become the first company in India’s food and beverage packaging industry to introduce certified recycled polymers in its packaging materials. This move aligns with the Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules 2022, which mandate the use of recycled content in packaging from April 1, 2025.

The new carton packages include 5% certified recycled polymers, produced at Tetra Pak’s ISCC PLUS-certified facility in Pune. The company uses chemical recycling technology to ensure these materials meet global food safety standards.

Cassio Simões, Managing Director, Tetra Pak South Asia, praised India’s proactive sustainability policies and emphasized the company’s long-term goal of transitioning to fully renewable or recycled packaging materials.

This initiative supports India’s circular economy goals by promoting the use of recycled materials and encouraging investment in recycling infrastructure.
