Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the apex body of Amul, has launched its latest innovation — Amul Protein Water — in a move aimed at supporting the growing fitness-conscious demographic and addressing the pressing issue of protein deficiency in India.
The new product, introduced on June 3, 2025, is a clear, lactose-free beverage formulated with 10 grams of whey protein isolate per 500ml serving, with zero added sugar and only 40 calories. The formulation also includes essential electrolytes such as sodium and potassium, making it a suitable option for post-workout hydration and recovery.
Amul Protein Water is designed for urban consumers seeking convenient, low-calorie protein options without compromising on taste or nutrition. Its ingredients include water, whey protein isolate, natural flavors, citric acid, and a blend of electrolytes.
“India continues to face significant challenges in meeting daily protein requirements across age groups,” said a spokesperson from Amul. “With this launch, we are providing a scientifically formulated, accessible product to help bridge this nutritional gap—especially for active individuals seeking high-quality protein without added sugars or lactose.”
The launch is part of Amul’s broader strategy to expand its high-protein product portfolio. Following the success of its protein-rich kulfis, the brand is now eyeing product innovations across categories including protein-fortified snacks, parathas, and ready-to-eat items.
