Akul Narula steps down as Vice President – Events at District by Zomato

Must Read

Akul Narula has resigned from his role as Vice President – Events at District by Zomato, concluding a multi-year tenure in which he was central to building and scaling the platform’s live events and ticketing vertical.

Narula’s departure comes at a time when Zomato is intensifying its focus on the “going-out” business — a standalone consumer segment that includes dining, live experiences, and ticketing, now being consolidated under the District app strategy. The District app, first introduced in August 2024, is positioned to unify restaurant reservations, events, entertainment, and lifestyle bookings outside Zomato’s core food delivery business.

During his stint at District by Zomato, Narula was responsible for the strategy and execution of live event formats across multiple markets. He led efforts to expand the reach of events programming, forge key partnerships, and provide operational support to promoters and artists, contributing to the platform’s events ecosystem growth.

Before joining District by Zomato, Narula held senior roles across diverse organisations. He served as Head – New Business at Insider.on for over three years, and previously worked in central marketing at DLF Limited for its shopping malls. His background also includes positions with White Fox India and Comic Con India (P) Ltd., bringing broad experience in events, business development and marketing to his Zomato role.

Narula’s resignation underscores ongoing leadership changes within Zomato’s expanding lifestyle and experiences portfolio as the company transitions toward a more diversified services model.
