For a brand that began with a small kitchen in Gujarat in 1938, Jagdish Farshan Pvt Ltd. is now looking beyond its regional roots. The four-generation snacks and sweets business has raised Rs. 43.5 crore in a Series A funding round led by Sharrp Ventures, the investment office of Marico founder Harsh Mariwala, along with a group of angel investors. The fundraise marks the company’s first institutional capital raise since its establishment in 1938 and comes as the brand prepares for its next phase of expansion.

The timing is significant for a company that has increasingly been positioning itself as a custodian of India’s food heritage with ambitions that extend beyond the domestic market. Jagdish Farshan was recently recognised among the Select 200 companies with global business potential at the Forbes India x D Globalist DGEMS 2025 Summit, a recognition that reflects the growing potential of India’s heritage-led consumer brands on the global stage.

The recognition holds particular significance for Jagdish Farshan given its nearly nine-decade legacy. What started as a small kitchen has evolved into a food brand built around traditional flavours, quality and the warmth associated with Indian hospitality. At the summit, Director Aakash Kandoi shared perspectives on the company’s journey and its path ahead, as discussions explored the changing expectations of global consumers and the growing confidence in Indian legacy brands.

The fresh capital will now help accelerate that journey. Jagdish Farshan plans to deploy the funds towards geographic expansion, manufacturing and supply-chain capacity, retail and institutional distribution, technology and digital commerce. The company will also continue to strengthen its portfolio of traditional snacks, namkeen and sweets as it looks to take its Gujarat-origin brand to consumers across India.

Jagdish Farshan currently operates 27 retail outlets across central Gujarat and two outlets in North America, with a portfolio spanning more than 500 products and SKUs. The new investment will enable the company to strengthen the infrastructure, production capabilities and distribution network needed to scale beyond its home market.

For Kandoi, who joined the family business in 2014 when it had just two stores, the fundraise marks a new chapter in a journey that has evolved considerably while remaining anchored in its original identity. The ambition is to build a nationally recognised food business without compromising the product quality, traditional flavours and consumer trust that have been cultivated over generations.

Jagdish Farshan’s story also reflects a broader shift underway in India’s food and consumer landscape. Regional brands with deep consumer loyalty and decades of heritage are increasingly looking to institutional capital, modern infrastructure and technology to transform established local businesses into scalable national and, eventually, global brands.

With Rs. 43.5 crore of fresh capital and growing recognition of its global potential, Jagdish Farshan is now looking to take its 1938 legacy into a new era – where the flavours that built its Gujarat following can find a much larger audience across India and beyond.
