Zomato shuts down ‘Quick’ and ‘Everyday’ services citing profitability and infrastructure challenges

Food delivery platform Zomato has announced the discontinuation of its 15-minute food delivery service, Zomato Quick, and its homestyle meal offering, Zomato Everyday, as part of its Q4 FY25 financial results shared with shareholders.

The decision comes just four months after the launch of Zomato Quick, which was introduced as an experimental offering. In a letter to shareholders, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal explained that both services are being wound down due to a lack of a clear path to profitability and challenges in maintaining consistent customer experience.

“We are shutting down both initiatives as we do not see the path to profitability in these without compromising on customer experience,” Goyal stated. “The current restaurant density and kitchen infrastructure is not set up for delivering orders in 10 minutes, which leads to inconsistent customer experience.”

Zomato Quick failed to generate additional demand during its trial period, while Zomato Everyday, which offered affordable, ready-to-eat homely meals within a two-kilometre radius, saw limited traction. The service was primarily used in metro office locations, and did not yield sufficient return on investment to justify its continuation.

This marks Zomato’s second unsuccessful attempt at cracking the quick food delivery segment. The company had previously launched Zomato Instant in 2022, which promised 10-minute deliveries in Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR, but the service was discontinued by January 2023.

Both Quick and Everyday have now been removed from the Zomato app as the company refocuses its strategy on sustainable growth.
