The Bread Bar by Chef Rachi Gupta has expanded to Navi Mumbai, marking the next phase of the brand’s journey after building a loyal customer base in Chembur over the past five years.
Founded by Chef Rachi Gupta, The Bread Bar started with the idea of making quality baked goods and comfort food more accessible while creating a space that felt more like a cosy neighbourhood café than a formal dining establishment. Since its launch in Chembur, the all-day café has grown into a neighbourhood favourite known for freshly baked breads, viennoiserie and comfort-led food.
The Navi Mumbai outlet brings the brand’s established identity to a new neighbourhood while allowing Gupta to build on her learnings from the past five years. The new café is designed as an all-day destination, offering The Bread Bar’s selection of breads and viennoiserie alongside breakfast plates, sandwiches, brunch dishes, desserts and beverages. The format is intended to cater to different occasions, from a morning coffee and quick bite to a leisurely afternoon meal or evening snack.
The new outlet is not positioned as a replica of the Chembur café, but as an extension of The Bread Bar’s evolution. The concept retains elements that have worked for the brand while adapting them to the needs of a new community.
Gupta’s approach to baking and food has been shaped by her culinary training and early experiences in the kitchen. She grew up cooking with her mother and grandmother before studying Culinary Arts at IHM Aurangabad and specialising in French Pastry Arts at École Nationale Supérieure de la Pâtisserie under Ducasse Education in France. Her professional experience includes an internship at Pierre Hermé in Paris and a stage at Michelin-starred Azurmendi in Spain. These experiences have influenced her approach to food, which combines technical precision and a focus on ingredients with an emphasis on comfort.
Speaking about the expansion, Chef Rachi Gupta said, “The last five years have taught us a lot about what people come to The Bread Bar for and, more importantly, what makes them want to come back. With Navi Mumbai, we wanted to take that learning and create something that feels distinctly its own while staying true to what The Bread Bar has always been about – good bread, good food and a space that people can make their own.”
