Swiggy has announced a significant expansion of its 10-minute food delivery service Bolt, now available in over 500 cities across India. Launched in October 2024, Bolt has quickly gained traction, contributing to 10% of Swiggy’s total food delivery orders, the company revealed.
Designed to meet the growing demand for ultra-fast meals, Bolt offers a curated menu of high-demand, quick-prep food items sourced from local restaurants and major quick-service restaurant (QSR) chains such as KFC, McDonald’s, Subway, Faasos, Burger King, and Curefoods. These meals are prepared and delivered from outlets within a two-kilometre radius, ensuring minimal wait times.
“Bolt fits into the way people live today. You’re hungry, you want something now, and you don’t want to compromise,” said Rohit Kapoor, CEO, Swiggy Food Marketplace. “Seeing it scale to 500+ cities in just a few months has been incredible. And this is just the beginning.”
Swiggy claims that users acquired through Bolt exhibit a 4–6% higher monthly retention rate compared to the platform average, indicating strong engagement with the offering.
To address safety concerns, Swiggy emphasized that delivery personnel are not informed if an order is part of Bolt, and no incentives are linked to delivery speed.
The expansion comes amid heightened competition in India’s rapid food delivery space. Zepto, which introduced its own 10-minute delivery service Zepto Café in 2022, now fulfills over 100,000 daily orders and is reportedly tracking a $100 million annualized GMV, according to CEO Aadit Palicha. The segment also includes players like Magicpin, BigBasket, Ola, Swish, and Zing, all aiming to capture a slice of the fast-growing market.
Swiggy itself is doubling down on the category, also operating Snacc, a separate service catering to snacks and small meals.
