Reliance Retail Launches Pilot Program for Instant Grocery Delivery

Must Read

Reliance Retail has launched a pilot program for instant delivery of groceries and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) in select areas of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, as per a report by The Economic Times.

The fast delivery service is available as a ‘hyperlocal delivery’ option on the JioMart mobile application. With this program, Reliance aims to reduce the current delivery time of up to 12 hours (and sometimes up to 3 days) to 30-45 minutes as more stores are integrated into the system and the operation expands into other markets.

Reliance plans to fulfill these orders through its store network and warehouses and by partnering with kirana stores that have joined the JioMart Partner initiative, rather than hiring a large fleet of delivery personnel.

The company is leveraging technology platforms like FYND and Locus for order fulfillment and optimizing delivery routes, as per the reports. There are also plans to introduce hyperlocal services for apparel and electronic items in the future.

With this initiative, Reliance aims to compete with top online delivery platforms in the country, such as Amazon Fresh and Swiggy Instamart. Last year, Reliance discontinued its quick-commerce pilot, JioMart Express, in Navi Mumbai. This time, they have not introduced any specific branding for the service till now.
