Mondelēz International has appointed Abhiroop Chuckarbutty as president of its Southeast Asia (SEA) business unit, effective 1 September 2025. He succeeds Hemant Rupani, who is leaving the company after more than nine years to pursue a new opportunity in India.
Chuckarbutty will be responsible for driving Mondelēz’s strategy to expand its presence and accelerate growth across Southeast Asia, a region the company identifies as a key market. The business is being shaped by rapid urbanisation, increasing digital adoption, and rising consumer demand for both indulgent and mindful snacking products.
He most recently led Mondelēz’s Sub-Saharan Africa unit, where he created a strategic roadmap and delivered improved performance across the region. Prior to joining Mondelēz, he served as president of the Africa, Middle East & Turkey business unit at Lipton Teas & Infusions. He also held senior roles at Unilever in India, North Africa, and the Middle East, including vice president for foods and refreshments in the MENA region.
With more than 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and operations in the consumer packaged goods sector, Chuckarbutty brings deep expertise to guide Mondelēz’s growth agenda in Southeast Asia.
