McDonald’s India (West & South) has named Mehak Jani as its new Head of Marketing. She joins the quick service restaurant (QSR) chain from Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL), where she most recently held the position of Global Brand Equity Lead – Personal Care & Global Effectiveness. During her time at the company, she also oversaw global brand equity for its Hair & Air portfolio.

Prior to her stint at GCPL, Jani spent more than 15 years with DDB Mudra Group, taking on several strategic leadership roles, including National Strategy Head at 22feet Tribal Worldwide and Vice President – Strategy at DDB Mudra Group. Over the course of her agency career, she worked with brands such as McDonald’s, Lipton, Future Group, Disney+ Hotstar, Femina, Godrej and LIC.

Sharing the announcement on LinkedIn, Jani revealed that she spent her first two weeks at McDonald’s immersed in restaurant operations, where she made burgers, served customers, packed orders and handled deliveries. Reflecting on the experience, she said, “Before you’re trusted to tell the story of an iconic brand, you must first understand what makes the story possible in the first place.”

She added that joining McDonald’s presented an opportunity to contribute to “one of those rare brands that’s taught in business schools, admired in boardrooms, loved by generations, and somehow still manages to be part of everyday life.”
