Delhi Government Proposes New Policy for Growth of Independent Food Outlets

Must Read

The Delhi Government has announced a new initiative to establish affordable, modern infrastructure for independent food outlets, streamline licensing, and create employment opportunities. Driven by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s vision, the initiative will be implemented through the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC). The program aims to boost the growth of local food outlets, cloud kitchens, and delivery-only services, easing regulations and providing accessible infrastructure.

Set to launch within 15 days, this policy introduces a single-window portal for simplified licensing and compliance, catering to the specific needs of Delhi’s non-dine-in food businesses, which number over 20,000. Spanning 2024 to 2029, the policy will reduce regulatory barriers, streamline operations, and promote sustainable growth and job creation in the National Capital Territory.

Delhi Industries Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj emphasized that the policy will foster entrepreneurial growth, skill development, and operational efficiency. DSIIDC will establish facilities such as shared kitchens, food testing labs, temperature-controlled warehouses, and co-working spaces within industrial zones, offering essential support to small businesses and startups. This initiative aims to enhance ease of doing business and provide a strong foundation for independent food ventures across Delhi.
