The Ministry of Food Processing Industries recently announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the fourth edition of World Food India (WFI) 2025 on September 25 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The four-day event, spread across 1,00,000 sq. metres, will run until September 28 and is set to be the largest congregation of stakeholders in India’s food processing sector. Participation will include over 21 countries, 21 states and Union Territories, 10 central ministries, and five allied government organisations.
The inaugural session will feature Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, along with Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Chirag Paswan, and Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu.
New Zealand and Saudi Arabia have been designated as partner countries this year, while Japan, Russia, the UAE, and Vietnam will be focus countries. The event will host more than 1,700 exhibitors, 500 international buyers, and delegates from over 100 nations.
A comprehensive knowledge exchange programme has been planned with more than 45 sessions, including thematic discussions, state and country-specific conferences, and CXO roundtables with participation from over 100 global agri-food leaders.
Parallel events include the third Global Food Regulators Summit organised by FSSAI, the 24th India International Seafood Show by SEAI, and a reverse buyer-seller meet by APEDA with over 1,000 buyers. Dedicated exhibitions will feature international, state, and ministry pavilions, alongside sections focused on pet food, food technology, and start-up innovations.
The 2025 edition will revolve around five core themes: sustainability and net zero food processing, India’s role as a global hub, advances in processing and packaging technologies, food for nutrition and wellness, and livestock and marine products as rural economy drivers.
To support consumer awareness, the ministry has also released a publication addressing common misconceptions around processed foods and promoting science-based information.
The event is being organised with support from multiple government departments and commodity boards, including Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, MSME, APEDA, and MPEDA.
World Food India 2025 is positioned as a landmark platform to showcase India’s food processing growth story, while fostering global partnerships and investment opportunities.
