Britannia Industries Limited has appointed Rahul Seshadri as Head – Functional Foods (R&D). In his new role, Seshadri will lead research and development initiatives for the functional foods segment, with a focus on driving innovation, developing new products, and strengthening Britannia’s capabilities in the growing functional foods category.
Seshadri brings extensive experience across research and development, innovation, product development, and category management. Over the course of his career, he has developed expertise in food science, innovation realisation, new product development, and translating consumer and market needs into commercially viable products across multiple food and nutrition categories.
Prior to joining Britannia Industries, Seshadri served as Head of Innovation (R&D) at Orkla India, where he led innovation initiatives and supported the development of new products. Before that, he held multiple roles at Danone India, including Senior Project Manager – Innovation Realisation Office and Senior Manager – Early Life Nutrition R&D, gaining experience across product innovation and nutrition-focused research.
Earlier in his career, Seshadri worked with Mondelēz International as Category Manager – Chocolate Category and Manager – R&D, Gum & Candy Category. He also served as Deputy Manager – NPD, R&D at GSK Consumer Healthcare India and began his research career as a Research Associate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His experience across leading food, nutrition, and consumer health organisations has given him a broad understanding of product development and innovation across categories.
