Direct-to-consumer brand P-TAL (Punjab Thathera Art Legacy) has raised $3 Mn in its Series A round led by Venture Catalysts’ syndicated fund VC Grid and Nikhil Kamath’s Rainmatter.

The round also saw participation from Connecticut Innovations (making its first-ever investment in India), Zero Pearl (Bipin Shah’s new VC fund), Anicut Capital, Jaipur Rugs Family Office, Ramakant Sharma (Livspace), Sanjay Kapoor (Genesis Luxury), Avnish Anand (Caratlane), Shibam Das (Atomberg), and Ritesh Malik (Innov8).

Founded in 2019 by Aditya Agrawal, Kirti Goel, and Gaurav Garg, P-TAL is reviving the traditional Thathera craft of Punjab, selling brass and copper utensils via its own website, ecommerce platforms, and offline retail stores. The brand currently offers 134+ SKUs.

The company exports to the US, UK, Europe, and the Middle East, with overseas markets contributing 55% of its revenues, a figure it expects to rise to 75% in the next three years.

The fresh capital will be channelled towards product innovation, technology-driven supply chain efficiencies, and artisan community empowerment. Notably, P-TAL also featured on Shark Tank India Season 3, securing Rs 1 Cr funding from all sharks collectively.
