Nestlé India is tapping into the premiumisation trend, identifying a Rs. 7,500 crore growth opportunity despite a slowdown in urban consumption. Chairman and MD Suresh Narayanan highlighted that the company’s premium portfolio has been growing at a 16% CAGR since 2015.

“The overall premiumisation opportunity in our categories stands at approximately Rs. 7,500 crore. Our premium portfolio has been growing at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16% since 2015,” said Narayanan. He further commented, “we are not building a premium portfolio from scratch—we already have one that we can further leverage and expand. Even rural consumers are increasingly opting for premium products, and we intend to align our urban strategy with this trend.”

Nestlé India is also strengthening its rural presence through its ‘RUrban strategy,’ recognizing that while urban growth is slowing, rural markets are now outpacing urban consumption—historically the dominant driver.
