HUL names Niranjan Gupta as next CFO; Ritesh Tiwari elevated to global role at Unilever Plc

Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL) has announced a leadership transition, appointing Niranjan Gupta as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and member of the Management Committee, effective November 1, 2025. Gupta, who began his career at HUL, will succeed Ritesh Tiwari, who has been elevated as Global Head of M&A and Treasury at Unilever Plc.

Gupta returns to HUL after nearly a decade, bringing extensive experience from Vedanta and Hero MotoCorp, where he rose from CFO in 2017 to CEO in 2023. He was instrumental in strengthening financial health, driving long-term strategy, and forging global partnerships, including with Harley Davidson.

Tiwari, who took charge as HUL’s CFO in 2021, navigated the pandemic years, spearheaded acquisitions and portfolio reshaping, and oversaw the demerger of HUL’s ice cream business into Kwality Walls (India) Ltd. Commenting on the transition, Priya Nair, CEO & MD, HUL, said, “I would like to thank Ritesh for his future-focused leadership and invaluable contribution to HUL. His elevation to the global role is yet another testament to HUL’s strong leadership pipeline. HUL names Priya Nair as next CEO and MD

Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) has announced the appointment of Priya Nair as its next Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, effective August 1, 2025. Nair, currently serving as President, Beauty and Well-Being at Unilever, will become the first woman to lead the FMCG major in its history.

She will also join the HUL Board, subject to regulatory approvals, while continuing as a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive.

The announcement follows the planned exit of Rohit Jawa, who will step down as CEO and MD on July 31, 2025, to pursue the next chapter in his personal and professional journey. Jawa assumed the role in 2023 and led HUL through a phase of volume-led competitive growth, introducing the company’s transformative ‘ASPIRE’ strategy, aimed at reshaping the portfolio and expanding into high-growth demand spaces.

Priya Nair, a seasoned HUL veteran, joined the company in 1995 and has held key leadership roles across sales, marketing, home care, beauty and personal care. She served as Executive Director – Home Care at HUL (2014–2020), followed by Executive Director – Beauty & Personal Care (2020–2022), before moving to her global role as Chief Marketing Officer, Beauty & Well-Being, at Unilever.

Her appointment marks a significant leadership transition for HUL as it continues to build on its legacy while preparing for future growth.
