India’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector is bracing for a subdued topline performance in the April–June quarter (Q1 FY26) due to multiple headwinds, including unseasonal rains, a shorter-than-usual summer, and persistent input cost inflation. However, companies across the sector have reported sequential recovery in demand, particularly in urban markets, and modest volume growth.

Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) expects high single-digit value growth for the quarter, driven by volume expansion in its India business. However, the company said its standalone EBITDA margin will likely remain below its normative range. Godrej’s standalone volume growth has been described as “strongly competitive” and sequentially improving. Internationally, its GAUM (Godrej Africa, USA, Middle East) business is expected to post strong double-digit value and volume growth for the second consecutive quarter, while performance in Indonesia may be “flattish” due to intensified competitive pricing.

Dabur India anticipates low-single-digit consolidated revenue growth for Q1, largely impacted by a decline in its beverages portfolio, hit hard by unseasonal rains and a shortened summer season. Operating profit growth is expected to marginally lag revenue growth. However, Dabur’s Home and Personal Care (HPC) segment is expected to perform well, with strong growth projected for brands such as Dabur Red Toothpaste, Odonil, Odomos, and Gulabari, alongside double-digit growth in healthcare products including Dabur Honey, Hajmola, Honitus, and Health Juices. Dabur’s international business is also expected to deliver double-digit constant currency growth.

Marico Ltd, owner of brands such as Saffola, Parachute, Hair & Care, Nihar, and Livon, anticipates modest operating profit growth, citing sequential inflation in raw material costs—particularly copra—which was further impacted by erratic rainfall. While vegetable oil prices eased due to a cut in import duties and crude derivatives remained stable, gross margins remain under pressure due to a high base and a pricing-led high denominator effect. The company noted consistent demand patterns, with rural markets showing signs of recovery and urban demand staying steady. Marico’s international business delivered high-teens constant currency growth, with broad-based gains across markets.

Despite near-term challenges, FMCG companies remain cautiously optimistic. Marico noted that a favourable monsoon, easing inflation, and policy support could help drive recovery in the coming quarters. Meanwhile, organised retail channels, including e-commerce, modern trade, and quick commerce, continued to show robust growth momentum during Q1 FY26.

Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), a leading FMCG company in emerging markets committed to sustainable and scalable solutions, has inaugurated its first Vertical Storage Warehouse in Bhiwandi, Thane district, Maharashtra. This state-of-the-art facility marks a pivotal milestone in GCPL’s strategic transformation of its supply chain operations under Project Parivartan—a flagship initiative to reimagine warehousing and logistics with innovation, efficiency, and sustainability at its core.

Spread across 2.84 lakh sq. ft., the warehouse features over 3,200 pallet positions and a high-density G+6 vertical racking system, significantly maximizing storage efficiency while minimizing physical footprint. Serving as the mother hub for key regional markets—Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh—the facility is designed to enable agile, responsive logistics tailored to evolving business needs.

Saurabh Jhawar, Head – Product Supply Organisation, India & SAARC, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), said, “The launch of our first vertical storage warehouse is a transformative step in our journey toward building a smart, agile, and future-ready supply chain. In just 18 months under Project Parivartan, we have upgraded a majority of our key logistics hubs to Grade A facilities. This new warehouse in Maharashtra stands as a beacon of our commitment to operational excellence, digital integration, and sustainable growth—allowing us to serve our consumers with enhanced speed, safety, and care.”

In March 2025, GCPL launched its first integrated greenfield plant in Tamil Nadu—representing a transformational shift in manufacturing. This advanced facility, the company’s first fully integrated plant under one roof, will manufacture products from some of GCPL’s most popular brands, including Cinthol, Godrej No.1, Goodknight, Godrej aer, and Godrej Expert Hair Colour. With the addition of the Vertical Storage Warehouse, GCPL is further strengthening its national distribution network. This marks a strategic shift toward real-time, data-led decision-making and automated scheduling systems that will enhance supply chain agility and responsiveness.

This development underscores GCPL’s unwavering belief in creating shared value and building resilient, innovation-driven infrastructure that aligns with its broader ambition—to lead with purpose and redefine excellence in the consumer goods sector.

The warehouse integrates advanced material handling capabilities such as angular docks, dock levellers, and automation designed to manage over 60,000 cases daily. GCPL has also embedded cutting-edge safety and monitoring technologies, including AI-ML powered warehouse monitoring, IR-based fire alarm systems, temperature and gas sensors, and a centralized Warehouse Control Centre. In line with GCPL’s commitment to people safety and skill development, the facility introduces VR-based safety training modules, offering immersive learning for on-ground teams.

The Bhiwandi warehouse not only symbolizes GCPL’s supply chain evolution but also reinforces the company’s Good & Green commitments. By optimizing storage density, automating routine operations, and reducing travel distances between hubs, the facility contributes to lower carbon emissions and enhanced resource efficiency. Aligned with the GCPL Sustainable Procurement Policy, the company continues to work closely with suppliers and partners to ensure responsible sourcing, ethical operations, and long-term environmental stewardship.
